      13:00
      St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, London
‘Songs to Die For’: the Sumptuous World of Latin American Art Song
Opera. Classical. Folk. Latin. What makes Latin American 'art' music special is its ability to transcend the traditional barriers between 'classical' and 'popular' and nowhere is this more patent than in its 'art' songs, which blend the two into something utterly irresistible. Few classically-trained singers can render these with as much versatility and authenticity as Maya Sapone, whose technical and stylistic dynamicism are truly amazing. 'Songs to Die for' is a new project in collaboration with leading Iberian specialist pianist Helen Glaisher-Hernández, which seeks to explore the liminal possibilities between the stifling paramaters of 'high' and 'low' art, where intellect meets passion.
Programme: Claudio Santoro "Love Songs", Carlos Guastavino "Flores Argentinas", Heitor Villa-Lobos "Forest of the Amazon"

      Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 April, 20:00

Collaborative Dance Experience presents ‘OUTSIDE OF TIME‘
CDE – Collaborative Dance Experience presents “OUTSIDE OF TIME” an alchemic event merging dance, film, live music and poetry in an immersive journey of transformation and extraordinary worlds. Three dance works unfold around the audience offering a new perception of time, people and place. Amy Howard’s dance film NOWHERE directed by Phil Mash brings the epic scale of a windswept Wiltshire burial mound into focus. OUTPOST, a collaboration between choreographer Elaine Thomas (Poetic Matter), writer Alison Gibb and musician Laurie Blundell conjures an ancient storm. Inspired by Shakespeare's Tempest it merges movement with poetry, spoken text and live sound. REMOTE WITHIN choreographer Deimantė Prišmantaitė brings the performance space alive, manipulating her dancers into antagonistic relationships within the space they inhabit. Forcing them to confront their fears, insecurities and strengths through movement. Ann-Karin Både will be collaborating with Deima, improvising live sounds to accompany the performance.
Featuring soprano Maya Sapone; music by Laurie Blundell
